Migrating from Microsoft Dynamics GP is rarely a simple ERP upgrade. Mature GP environments often contain decades of processes, controls, integrations, customizations, and reporting logic. GP batches may drive financial controls. Separate company databases may support multi-entity operations. SmartList, Management Reporter, SOP, POP, Integration Manager, eConnect, Dexterity customizations, SQL jobs, and third-party ISVs may also play critical roles. As a result, replacing Dynamics GP requires much more than selecting another Microsoft ERP product.

At the same time, modern ERP systems operate differently from Dynamics GP. Batch processing may give way to different posting and approval models. GP account segments may need to become dimensions. Separate company databases may move into a more integrated multi-entity architecture. In addition, SOP and POP workflows may not translate directly into the sales and purchasing models of the new ERP. Even familiar capabilities such as SmartList and Management Reporter may require an entirely different reporting architecture.
