CXO Bi-Weekly Brief: Enterprise Software Selection Intelligence – Sep ‘26, Ep 8
Sep 25th, 2026 | 1 PM ET
Enterprise software is entering a new phase. Consolidation is accelerating. At the same time, AI adoption is expanding. Seismic completed its merger with Highspot. As a result, the deal creates a larger player in sales enablement and go-to-market performance. Meanwhile, AI is moving deeper into marketing and customer experience software. Uniphore introduced a new marketing AI solution. Similarly, ActiveCampaign launched Active Intelligence: Wavelength. Optimove introduced its OptiGenie conversational AI agent. In addition, Optimizely launched role-specific AI coworkers for marketers. Capacity also raised more than $50 million in Series E funding. Therefore, the direction is becoming clearer. Enterprise AI is moving beyond standalone assistants. Instead, AI is becoming embedded within specific roles, workflows, and business processes.
However, this shift extends far beyond marketing. AI is also moving deeper into core enterprise software. For example, Sage expanded Sage Intacct with AI-powered financial controls and connected reporting. It also added more industry-specific capabilities. Meanwhile, Syspro launched Torque, an industrial AI platform for manufacturers. The platform is designed to detect manufacturing issues. It can also recommend responses. Furthermore, it can execute approved actions. As a result, enterprise AI is moving from generating insights to supporting operational execution. More importantly, these capabilities are increasingly being embedded directly within financial and operational workflows.
At the same time, enterprise software vendors are building the infrastructure required for agentic AI. Consequently, the conversation for CXO buyers is changing. AI features alone are no longer enough. Instead, buyers must evaluate enterprise architecture, integration, data governance, AI governance, security, and platform dependency. Moreover, continued consolidation could reshape established software categories such as sales enablement and customer experience. So, what do these enterprise software developments mean for technology buyers? And how should executives evaluate the growing number of AI agents, AI-native platforms, and embedded AI capabilities? This episode examines the latest enterprise software trends through the CXO buyer lens. Above all, it explores what these developments could mean for enterprise software strategy, AI adoption, governance, and digital transformation.
